You've Got Questions - We Have Answers!
What are the benefits of LED underwater pond lighting?
LED pond and water feature lighting allows you to extend the enjoyment of your outdoor space well into the evening while highlighting the movement of the water. These high-efficiency lights use significantly less energy than traditional halogen bulbs and offer a much longer lifespan, reducing the need for frequent bulb changes.
Can LED lights be installed in an existing pond or waterfall?
Yes, we can easily retro-fit LED lighting into existing water features to enhance their nighttime aesthetic. Our team can strategically place submersible lights among the rocks of your waterfall or along the floor of your pond to create a dramatic, glowing effect without needing to drain the system.
Are underwater LED lights safe for fish and aquatic plants?
High-quality underwater LED lights are perfectly safe for koi and plants because they emit very little heat and run on low-voltage electricity. This ensures that the water temperature remains stable and your aquatic life is never at risk of electrical shock or thermal stress.
How long do professional-grade pond LED lights last?
Professional LED water feature lights are designed for longevity, often lasting between 30,000 to 50,000 hours of continuous use. This durability makes them a cost-effective investment for Bloomington homeowners who want a reliable, low-maintenance lighting solution for their landscape.
Can I change the colors of my pond lighting?
Many of the LED lighting systems we install feature color-changing capabilities (RGB) that can be controlled via a smartphone app or remote. This allows you to set the mood for different occasions, whether you want a natural warm white or a vibrant sequence of colors for a backyard party.
Where is the best place to position lights in a waterfall?
To get the best visual impact, we recommend placing LED lights directly behind the "curtain" of the waterfall or tucked into the pockets where the water crashes against the rocks. This positioning captures the white water and bubbles, making the entire feature appear to glow from within.
Do LED pond lights require a lot of electricity?
No, modern LED pond lights are extremely energy-efficient, typically using only 1 to 3 watts per fixture. Even a large system with multiple lights will have a negligible impact on your monthly utility bill compared to traditional landscape lighting.
How do I maintain my underwater lighting system?
Maintenance is minimal and generally involves wiping the lenses occasionally to remove any algae or mineral buildup that might dim the light. During your scheduled general pond maintenance, we check the connections and ensure the fixtures are still positioned for maximum effect.
Are pond lights waterproof and durable for Minnesota winters?
The submersible LED lights we provide are specifically designed to be fully waterproof and can withstand the pressure of being submerged year-round. While the lights themselves are durable, we ensure the transformers and outdoor outlets are properly protected from the harsh Minnesota elements.
How can I get a quote for a lighting package?
You can get a quote through our website or visit our Bloomington retail store to see different lighting effects in person. We can design a custom lighting plan that highlights your favorite areas of your pond, stream, or fountainscape.
